Olivia Holgate

EIT

Staff Environmental Engineer

I have always been drawn to nature and the outdoors my whole life. Human beings and the environment are deeply interconnected, and we are supposed to help the environment as much as it helps us. I want the work that I do to be involved with helping humans and the environment they live in, and I believe that I have found that at GeoEngineers.

Olivia is a staff environmental engineer based in our Tacoma office. She supports the Tacoma Yard Project, where she works directly with homeowners to help ensure the safety and health of their families by replacing contaminated soil with clean soil at residential sites. Her work includes collecting soil samples, observing and documenting construction activities, and making sure homeowners are comfortable and informed throughout the process.

Olivia brings a strong attention to detail and a personal commitment to quality in everything she does. “I believe my dedication to creating a great product and attention to detail are two skills that are very valuable to my career,” she explains.

Olivia earned her bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering with a minor in sustainability studies in 2022. Before joining GeoEngineers, she interned with the Metropolitan Council – Metro Transit in Minneapolis, where she worked on construction sites monitoring erosion control, spill prevention, and safety measures for compliance.

Olivia’s interest in environmental engineering grew out of a blend of academic strengths and personal values. “Environmental engineering was the only field that really aligned with my values and connection to nature,” she says. “It also fueled my passion for wanting to help people and the world.”

Outside of work, Olivia enjoys exploring Washington on hiking and camping trips with her boyfriend. She also finds joy in playing tennis, strumming her ukulele, singing in her church choir, trying new recipes, and playing video games like Mario Kart.
