As an associate geotechnical engineer at GeoEngineers, Heidi provides geotechnical recommendations for urban and suburban development projects, from the due diligence phase to construction administration. Specializing in geotechnical exploration, foundation design, shoring, ground improvement, and site development, she works closely with project teams to provide cost-effective solutions.

“The best part of my job is helping our clients and teaming partners turn their ideas into reality,” she shares. “We’re often faced with significant challenges, but I love how fulfilling it feels to work with our teaming partners to find solutions that make those projects work.”

Heidi’s career path into geotechnical engineering was unexpected. After completing her civil engineering undergraduate degree in her native country, the Dominican Republic, she initially moved to the U.S. to pursue a master’s in transportation engineering, but soon realized it wasn’t for her.

“It was almost by chance that I found geotechnical engineering,” she explains. “When I realized transportation engineering wasn’t for me, I started researching other fields, and was drawn to geotechnical engineering because it’s so hands-on, and no two days or projects are ever the same. Geotechnical engineers are like magicians, making the ground beneath our feet work for us to create safe, stable foundations.”

Outside of work, Heidi enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. She regularly celebrates her culture through music and dance, often holding family “dance parties” before dinner. In addition to music, Heidi and her family love to explore the Massachusetts beaches in the summer and ski in Vermont and New Hampshire during the winter.
