Mike and our CAD team play a critical role in GeoEngineers’ projects. His figures, design packages, and data visualization products help our engineers and scientists understand conditions and picture complex information so they can make the best decisions possible. With a diverse background and a keen eye for detail, Mike makes sure our projects are presented in useful, and attractive, ways.
Mike will be focusing on environmental and geotechnical/geo-structural design support which includes figures, design packages, and data visualization products, along with mentorship for junior staff and input on GeoEngineers CAD processes and standards.
“My job is essentially to make my clients look good, both internally and externally,” Mike says.
Mike joined GeoEngineers in 2024 as a seasoned CAD professional with more than 23 years in the consulting industry. Mike specializes in surface and subsurface modeling, an essential tool for geotechnical and environmental investigations. Over his career, Mike has worked on a wide variety of project types, including dams, water treatment, pipelines, mining, drainage, geotechnical analysis and design, and stream restoration projects. In recent years Mike has contributed to complex design-build projects that included extensive drilling programs, civil design, and construction support.
“At first it was just a career path I chose, but quickly realized I was well suited to engineering design support,” Mike explains. “I had a large project early in my career that turned into a ‘trial by fire’ situation, and that showed me what I was capable of achieving.”
Outside of work, Mike makes the most of the natural beauty around him in his home state of Colorado. He enjoys getting outside for hiking, camping, and fishing, and at home he channels his creativity into woodworking and cooking. Mike is often remodeling his house or working on other projects, and most weekends include a regular visit to Home Depot!
