Lisa Witkowski Receives Julie Kiel Scholarship from NHA

CAD Assistant Lisa Witkowski received the 2024 Julie Kiel Scholarship from the National Hydropower Association (NHA) last week in recognition of her hard work and dedication to a career related to hydropower. Lisa accepted the scholarship at the Clean Currents Conference in Portland, Oregon, last week.

“I am honored and excited to win this award! The Hydropower Foundation has had an incredible impact on my new career path,” Lisa says, “and I am very grateful for all the people I have met and new opportunities that have come my way—especially GeoEngineers!”

Lisa recently joined GeoEngineers’ CAD team as an intern and has moved into a part-time position while completing her drafting certificate at Wenatchee Valley College. She’s looking forward to a career of impactful project work—for hydropower clients and others who help our communities grow sustainably.

“As I started to learn more about drafting, I became a part of the Hydropower Foundation,” Lisa says. “There, I could clearly see the connection between project development and contributing to a green future for my community. I had been searching for a way to make a positive impact on the future of our world for a long time. With drafting, I feel like I can play a small part in achieving those goals.”

The Clean Currents Conference is a relatively new national event, launched by NHA in 2021 but already growing to more than 2,000 attendees this year. It is focused on bringing hydropower producers, consultants, and vendors together to build partnerships and better serve their communities with renewable hydropower solutions. It was a great opportunity to meet with potential clients and partners, discuss GeoEngineers’ dam safety and hydropower services, and celebrate Lisa’s achievement!
