John is a senior geo-structural engineer on our national construction design team, where he specializes in services provided to contractors. He designs access trestles, crane pads, retaining walls, and the many other temporary and permanent structures needed to complete large development and transportation projects. John leans on his knowledge of construction, geotechnical engineering, and structural design to find efficient and effective solutions for our clients.
John performed more traditional geotechnical services for other consultants earlier in his career, but his drive to keep challenging himself eventually pushed him toward construction design.
“I always enjoyed working on projects that required a little more thought regarding design, and had more pressing schedules,” John says. “Finding construction design was a natural progression.”
At GeoEngineers, John contributes to a wide variety of projects all across the country. He looks forward to tackling each unique challenge that comes across his desk, no matter how urgent or large.
“One of my most exciting challenges came not long after my first day at GeoEngineers,” John says. “I was tasked with designing a lifting beam rated for 317 tons—that was a bit of pretty cool work.”
Outside of work, John enjoys backpacking, kayaking, and random building and repair projects. His useful skills have made him popular with friends and family. If he’s not helping his loved ones with their latest project, he’s probably hiding from them!
