When our clients are facing complex urban redevelopment challenges, they call Matt. As one of the geotechnical leaders in the Puget Sound region, Matt works on a range of complex foundation and seismic-design projects. He specializes in deep-shored excavations for urban redevelopment projects.
Over the years, he’s focused on urban multi-story commercial, hospital, parking garage, and multi-family residential projects along with various projects at Puget Sound Naval facilities. Matt and his team have developed recommendations for both shallow and deep foundations, geotechnical seismic design, temporary and permanent shoring walls, naval facilities and buildings that extend below the groundwater table.
“When I look at the group of professionals that I collaborate with to deliver successful projects to clients,” he says, “the common threads that I see are teamwork, a strong work ethic, and an incredible depth of talent and experience in the group.”
Matt takes the lead whenever complex shoring and foundation challenges are present, complex sequencing is required, and protection of adjacent infrastructure is critical. Matt is responsible for the geotechnical design of the Amazon Rufus 2.0 project (Blocks 14, 19, 20, 21, and 18), the award-winning geotechnical design of the VMMC Jones Pavilion, the ACEC National-Grand-Award-winning Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Campus, the award-winning Olive 8 innovative shoring design and more than 100 urban redevelopment projects with shored excavations in the Seattle and Bellevue area.
Outside of work, Matt actively supports his son and daughter’s sports teams, and enjoys woodworking, home remodeling, travel, boating, fishing, camping, skiing and backpacking.
