Neil Morton

As GeoEngineers’ senior toxicologist, Neil manages human health and ecological risk assessments, which estimate potential health risks from exposure to contaminated soil, vapor intrusion, sediment, surface water and groundwater. Neil’s focus areas are exposure evaluation, toxicology, risk characterization and identifying criteria to evaluate data. He is well-versed with Washington, Oregon, California and Alaska risk-related guidance (the strongly advised recommendations that stop short of being regulations) and EPA risk assessment guidance. Because of Neil’s risk assessment expertise and long working relationship with these regulators, they often seek his advice as they update or develop new guidance.

Before joining GeoEngineers, Neil worked for some of the big names in engineering consulting. He reports that he prefers GeoEngineers’ smaller company size and appreciates the opportunity to collaborate and consult with smart, energetic people, both in Seattle and in the other eleven offices.

Neil has been a distance runner for 20 years. After training for and running his first 5K, he was hooked. “Running makes me feel good. I get a runner’s high, and it’s relaxing, especially when I’m training with a group of friends,” Neil relates. He switched to full marathons in the ‘90s and recently completed the Boston Marathon. Neil says his two young boys keep him on his toes, too, with family fun, trips to the zoo and bike rides.
