Phil Welker

Earlier in his career, Phil decided he preferred doing work that helped the planet to heal. Today he is a chemical engineer who helps GeoEngineers’ clients decide how to address contamination issues and how best to return their properties to beneficial use. He enjoys helping colleagues and clients get to solutions that are not only good for the company’s bottom line, but also make the client happy.
From his home base in Sacramento, Phil works on projects with staff from most GeoEngineers offices. He appreciates the firm’s spirit of collaboration and cooperation and its embrace of technology that makes it easy to work from anywhere.
“Lots of other companies have great communications tools, but we actually use ours. I really do feel that the common theme for our work is about finding a better way. The staff really live this, it’s not just an empty corporate slogan,” Phil says.
Phil loves being with his wife and school-aged son and daughter. He enjoys family barbecues, playing tennis and basketball and watching his son play baseball. A music lover, Phil plays the bassoon and sings tenor in his church choir, where he is sometimes the featured soloist. With so much going on in his life, Phil says that taking a leisurely nature hike is the perfect break from life’s busyness.
